It is with great pleasure that we invite you to the inaugural Transform MedEd 2018 Conference!
On behalf of the organising committee, Martin and I are delighted to welcome our international presenters, delegates and partners from Singapore, Asia and beyond to this conference, jointly hosted by two premier medical schools across two continents – Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, NTU Singapore and the Imperial College London School of Medicine.
This conference will offer practical opportunities for you to further develop your skills in medical education, with hands-on workshops, facilitated discussions, networking, and presentations by world-class medical educators - a meeting of minds to tackle Global Challenges for Local Impact, under the themes Transforming People, Transforming Practice and Transforming Policy. While doing so, we will showcase and provide a platform for de-constructing and re-imagining current ways and methods in medical education and healthcare. Finally, you will gain not just ideas, but potentially new skills and collaborators for new education research projects. In this vibrant city of Singapore, your ideas matter, your contributions count. This year is also the 32nd anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) where Singapore resides. Innovation is a strong focus in ASEAN’s plans this year, inspiring its member nations to become change and transformational agents. Our conference aims to do the same. We are grateful to Imperial and NTU Singapore, the faculty and staff of both institutions for their tremendous support in making this conference a success. My conference co-chair and I are looking forward to hosting you in November. Here’s to a meaningful conference – let us re-imagine and transform medical education. Warmest regards,
Professor Naomi Low-Beer Chairperson, Transform MedEd 2018 Vice-Dean Education, Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine
Mr Martin Lupton Co-Chairperson, Transform MedEd 2018 Associate Dean and Head of Undergraduate Medicine, Imperial College London
